Wonderous Stories has undoubtedly been one of the top cover bands in the Ne York area since 1994 . They have often been called the band that can play anything . They started out as a band that covered difficult bands to play such as "Yes" , "Genesis", "ELP" and other prog rock bands . Although they still often pull out songs by these artists they have morphed into a band that covers the entire classic and pop rock genre . They arguably have the largest repertoire of just about any band anywhere . They have an uncanny knack for reading a crowd and playing just about anything that the crowd wants . They often hear screams for requests from the crowd and simultaneously start playing the requests and playing them with quality and precision . There are times when the band will start an album and spontaneously play an entire side of an album or the entire album .
At this show the band will play songs from all aspects of music and will be able to satisfy just about everyones taste . Just when you think the music will go only one way it will switch gears in amazement to the crowd . An example might be going from the complex "Funeral for a friend" from Elton John and then switch to a fun set from "The Monkees" or switch to the 80's and play something from "The Police" or "Squeeze" or maybe even play some blues inspired rock from "Eric Clapton" or other blues rock greats . You never know what they will play but you can be assured that they will play it right on the money . The band might even have Randy Jackson of Zebra up to do a few Led Zep classics . They will touch all bases and keep the entire crowd happy . A written review once said "Wonderous Stories" are a cover band but so is the New York Philharmonic !
